What Is The Best Bedtime? |
Sleep experts said that its not that simple, as you should shoot for a time range to pursue a perfect night's sleep.
1) "The mythology of every hour of sleep before midnight is worth two after midnight, is unfortunately not true," says Dr. Matt Walker, head of the sleep and Neuro-imaging Lab at the University of California.
2) He explains that our slumber is composed of a series of 90-minute cycles during which brain moves from deep, non-rapid eye movement (non-REM) sleep to REM sleep. Though the cycle is fairly stable throughout the night, its ratio of non-REM to REM sleep varies.
3) To cut the following paragraphs simple, your brain and body's circadian rhythms have been established for hundreds of thousands of years.
4) Your ideal bedtime will also change as you age (e.g. small children tend to get tired in the early evening, whilst college-aged adults feel more comfortable going to bed at midnight.)
5) Siebern suggests did mention that it's fine to doze for an extra hour during your days off, but if you're getting up at 6:3- during the working days and sleeping until 10 on day-offs, you're challenging your sleep rhythms.
