A Guide to Writing the Perfect CV |
____________________________________________________________________________________
1)Start off your CV with your Personal Details, which include basic details about yourself such as your Name, Sex, Date of Birth. You should also include a Passport Sized Portrait Photo of yourself here.
Also include your Identification Card Number (IC No.) OR Passport Number if your are an international student. DO NOT include your address here.
2)Instead, put them here, in the Contact Information section. This is where you put your Contact Number and E-mail Address and also your Residential Addresses.
Note that if you are not local in the area you are currently staying in, it is recommended for you to put your Current Address, which is the address of you current residential home.
3)Next, write about your Education details, such as below:
XYZ University
Education Level and Course Enrolled in
From when until when
We recommend to write the latest 3 education level you currently enrolled in and had been enrolled with. For example, if your are currently pursuing for Bachelor Degree, write down about your Bachelor Degree, Diploma (or A level or Foundation or STPM or UEC) and SPM, in descending order.
4) After that, its the Academic Performance Section. Insert your past examination result from the latest to the past result. Again, the chronology should be in descending order. For example 2014, 2012, 2008 etc.
5) The section following next is one of the most important section for your CV; its your Employment History. Here, you should be writing only 3 things for each job you had been employed before: Company, Job Position and a short Description of your job.
Always start with your latest job you had been employed with, keep the chronology in a descending order.
6) The Key Skills section, another important section of your CV. Input your useful skills here! Such as being Creative, a Team Player etc.
7) The next section should be your Club and Societies section. Remember that your interviewer would be more interested with someone that had done a lot of extra curricular activities, rather than someone that only know how to study for a good result. So if you had not joined a club, join one NOW!
8) This section is to for you to write down any extra curricular activities you had done before. For example it could be regarding you volunteering for a community service, or competitions such as sports competitions or chess competitions.
9) Last but not least, it is always good to input your language proficiency at the last section of the CV. If you want to add in more details, it is entirely up to you.
